This low-sulphur version of 316 stainless steel is well used in many different industries for its good resistance to both intergranular corrosion and resistance to certain acid mediums as well as exhibiting decent welding capabilities and response to polishing techniques. It cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but high strength levels can be achieved through cold working, which also improves its machinability.
